“From baggy hip hop clothes to a typical Scandinavian effortless-cool look. Melissa Bech, international sales representative at Danish brand Wood Wood and fashion blogger, is the perfect example of a fashionista that finds inspiration in her surroundings when it comes to her personal style.”

“Spending her childhood in the urban area of Detroit, Melissa can still remember how her love for fashion started. Being obsessed with Eminem and Kid Rock as a teenager she didn’t only listen to their music, but also dressed in self-described obscene hip-hop clothes and dreamed about becoming a famous rapper one day. “I will never forget the first time I saw the “American Badass” music video!” she says. Although she didn’t become the famous rapper she thought she would be, the love affair with the casual clothing style did affect her style choices, even today.”
“It were also those early days that awaken her creativity. “In school, uniforms were a must. My sister and I spent hours trying to modify the uniforms in different ways.” Apart from growing up in an urban environment she also spent some years of her childhood in Germany and lived in New York City while working with jewelry designer Pamela Love. A true globetrotter is what you can call the fashionista. Regarding Copenhagen as her home now her personal style has developed and become more mature, but you can still track down some hip hop influences in her typical Danish style aesthetic. Varsity jackets and sneakers are some of her must haves. Melissa recalls the latter as a typical Copenhagen ‘thing’. “Almost every girl in Copenhagen owns a pair of sneakers. I combine most of my looks with a pair of sneakers. From a skirt with a shirt to suited pants with a blazer, the set is not complete with a pair of sneakers.”
“Casual is the key when it comes to this fashionista her way of dressing. But with her remarkable taste she still get herself noticed, like the moment she first felt like a fashionista when she got her first street-style photo taken. Melissa her minimalistic style also explains why she regards the quote “Style is a simple way of saying complicated things,” by Jean Cocteau as her favorite fashion quote. Simplicity is also reflected in the items she believes will never be out of fashion. As she is convinced that black jeans and a T-shirt will always be around. Being a true globetrotter her fashion dream is to travel the world as she loves the fashion industry not only for the clothing but also the personalities. “I love watching the personalities for their style. They say it’s all about branding and self-fashioning but I think you are either born with or without style. And that is what is fascinating to me.” That’s exactly what we love her for…”
